Announcing the Arrival of...

Tait Edward Zimmerman, Jr.

Early, but healthy, Little Tait was born on November 6, 2008, at 3:29 pm, delivered by emergency C-section. At just 27 weeks along, he needed (and still needs!) all of the prayers he so lovingly received from all of our faithful family and friends.

Thankfully, he has been breathing on his own from the beginning, and hasn't needed a respirator, which is apparently very rare for babies born at his stage in life.
While we didn't plan or expect him quite this early, we are so thankful for our precious baby boy! We hope to be able to bring him home around the middle or end of January. Please be praying that he grows into a strong, healthy newborn over the next 2-1/2 months!
Here are a few pictures from his first few days in the wide, wide world....

Since this picture, he has shed the CPAP and the goggles!

Just the Beginning....

Well, it's not even supposed to get up to 50 degrees here in the 10-day forecast, and there are a few lows in the 30's! It's 45 degrees out now, at 3 in the afternoon. Just about all of the leaves have turned, and the woods and driveway are paved with fallen ones. Somehow, 40 and 50 degrees here doesn't seem quite as cold as it did back home; I think I'm becoming slightly used to this cooler weather! We'll see how I do throughout the winter! : )

I'll update more later! There's half of a honeymoon post written; hopefully I'll have time to finish it this week!

Later,
Lauren

Yes, We're Still Alive!

Hello everyone!!! Lauren here.

We had a beautifully wonderful honeymoon in Prince Edward Island, Canada, and are now enjoying life together in Alaska! I'll have to say that married life is even better than I thought it would be (and I had some pretty high expectations), and that I am married to the best young man on the face of the earth. Our relationship has grown closer each day, and we're looking forward to 80 more years together! Tait keeps saying that he's extra tired and is having strange cravings. Any guesses why?

We're working on getting pictures up, as soon as we get all of the pictures back from the photographer. There are pictures up on the photographer's website, but you can only get to it through a password. I'll be e-mailing it out to all those who were in the wedding as soon as I can, though!

Tait is out right now, working on our house (we're staying downstairs from his parents' right now; it's a sort of duplex). I'm normally out working with him, but several guys are out there helping him, and I'm making dinner for all of those hungry people here tonight. Our house is coming along slowly but surely!

We've enjoyed reading all of ya'll's comments! We'll be starting our own blog shortly, and will be sure to post the information about that.

Blessings to all of ya'll!

The Eclipse

Leslie, Mom, and I had the greatest fun watching the eclipse the other night. (Actually, I watched it and ran inside every few minutes excitedly calling them out to see the latest developments.) I enjoyed so much taking pictures throughout most of the second half. Unfortunately, for awhile, I couldn't figure out exactly what setting to put my camera (a Nikon D40) on to get a good picture. Several hours, and 75 pictures later, this is what I had....

I took about 30 pictures that all turned out like this, while I was trying to figure out how to get a good picture. You can see a little bit of the red here.

Finally figuring out how to work my camera. :D

It was clear most of the time, but towards the end a few thin clouds came along. I think they added quite a bit to the pictures!

Looks like some sort of nebula type formation!

Funniness

We were reading tonight in "The Case for Christ," by Lee Strobel. It was Shannon's turn to read. The "credentials" of one of the men was outlined, and mentioned that he had graduated "summa cum laude."

Shannon stopped, looked twice: "Wait a second. Isn't that a kind of coffee?"

"No darling. You're thinking of a cafe latte."

*smile*

I'll be putting up wedding website information soon!
