Every Gift of God Is Perfect

God has given an extra special gift to our family in the form of a down syndrome little baby girl.

(We didn't know right away after the birth, and had already called a few people to announce the birth before we found out. That's why some of you got calls that didn't mention this.)

We are so blessed! God has entrusted us with the care of this precious baby! So many of these babies are aborted. The Lord has blessed us with one of these children to love, nurture, and cherish!
I sat down this evening and looked up some verses for this post. I found so many, and have included those that especially spoke to my heart. A few songs came to mind, too, in the course of writing all of this down.

The Lord has blessed us in so many ways over the past few years. He has shown us many things and brought each of us closer to Him and His Word.

From the beginning, we have realized God may send us a down syndrome child. We have been praying that His will would be done.
At the same time, we prayed that God would give us the grace for whatever child He saw fit to bless us with.
Our trust is in the Lord, and we know that He will provide. Mom and Dad surrendered their lives to the Lord, and we know that He is faithful.
One of the first things that Mom said was that this baby will draw our family even closer together.
This baby is going to be such a blessing! While we are being brought closer to each other, we will all grow closer to God - individually and as a family. I'm sure that the Lord will use Katelyn to change each of us in ways that I don't think we can even imagine now.
We don't know what the Lord has in store for little Katelyn's life. Our prayer is that God will use her to draw many people to Him.
Changes will come, we know. Changes are already here. There will be health issues to deal with. There is danger of pneumonia, especially during the first year.
We love this little girl so much already. She's absolutely adorable. No one can appreciate a little newborn sneeze unless they have seen and heard it firsthand as I have tonight! And the way she smiles in her sleep ... oh, it's just precious!

We're excited to take on this new challenge for the glory of God. Yet it is only through His strength that anything can be accomplished. Our trust is in Him.
We believe that for the past few years the Lord has been preparing our home and our family for this little one. Our friendship with the Royals has allowed us to see firsthand the joys the Lord sends with a down syndrome child. Our midwife is connecting us with several other Christian mothers of downs children in the area. One of these mothers is coming to the house Saturday at 1 pm to talk with us and give us some practical advice. We can just see how God has been orchestrating everything!
We are truly grateful for His leading and direction. He knows the end from the beginning, and He has a perfect plan for us.
We ask that you would please pray for us and for Katelyn. Pray for her health. Pray for guidance for Mom and Dad. Pray that the Lord would send all of grace and strength. And pray that each of us would grow in the Lord.

~ Lauren, for the whole Family

Congratulations, Wendy and family! I hadn't checked your blog for a few days, so I was surprised and excited to read the baby news. No doubt God is and has been writing an amazing story for Katelyn...for all of you. Everything comes from His hand.

Oh how absolutely WONDERFUL!
We, too, are friends of the Royals. Our daughter, Trista (17 yrs. old) had DS and she is truly an incredible blessing to our family. It has been an exhilirating journey raising her. I cannot wait to hear how God leads you as he lead us!
Love and an extra hug and kiss for your little one!

Dear FitzClan,

Oh, I have so much to say and this little comment box is so inadequate!

I wish I could be there right now to give each of you a big congratulatory hug on the birth of beautiful Katelyn Grace.

I've been trying hard to get "over here" to connect with y'all. I've been following your blog every chance I get and have so enjoyed all the updates.

Like I said... so much to say and I am so inarticulate.

Lauren and Leslie, I remember us talking in the ladies' lounge at Pearl Stable and now these little children of which we spoke are here.

Your love for and devotion to Katelyn Grace is such a testimony to God's goodness. She truly has been delivered to the perfect family for her. What a blessing she is to so many of us out here who have never even met her!

Lauren, all these updates are so meaningful, but your post with all the handwritten Scriptures the Lord has shown you is just so special.

I'm praying for Katelyn Grace (perfect name) and that her eye infection would clear up quickly. I know this first year especially will have its share of challenges and new things to learn. I will most definitely be keeping the pneumonia possibilities in prayer as well.

Mr. and Mrs. Fitz, your family is a delight. I feel so blessed the Lord allowed our paths to cross by way of the SAICFF. You are all an inspiration. (And great job delivering that sweet little bundle, Wendy!!)

Please give that precious little girl a kiss for me.

With MUCH love from the Shepherd home to the Fitz home...

Love in Christ,

Oh, Mrs. Shepherd! It's so nice to hear from you! Thank you so much for taking the time to make such a sweet, meaningful comment! (For those of you who may not know, Mrs. Shepherd just delivered her 9th child on February 1st!)

Thank you for praying. The Lord is so good, and is giving us so much comfort, encouragement, excitement, and Grace!

It's so nice to hear from you, and I hope that you bounce back quickly from your own delivery! I enjoyed "tuning in" to your live webcam Friday afternoon. It was so nice to see your lovely family in action!

I can't say how much your note means to me ... and to all of us. Thanks for taking the time out of your very busy schedule to send such a sweet, uplifting note our way! I'll share it with Mom tomorrow, and I know she'll appreciate it too!

Much love in Christ,
Lauren

Thank-you so much for allowing me to see your blog and to enjoy in the news of your new blessing. Praise God! She is absolutely beautiful!
I enjoyed reading through "your walk with God" with the whole pregnancy. Definitely sounds like Katelyn Grace was meant to be.
You guys are an absolutely, wonderful family and we are so blessed to have you in our lives. Thanks for letting me be a small part of that. I really look forward in watching each of you grow.
Katelyn Grace has been appropriately nicknamed Little Caterpillar. She will turn into one of God's beautiful butterflies right before all our eyes! In Him!

Congratulations on the birth of Katelyn Grace! She is absolutely adorable...

This really is the best news I've heard in a long time. Our family looks forward to seeing her later this month. Margaret Paige finally has a playmate! :-)

We are so blessed to know your wonderful family. Thank you for all you do.

Thank you for praying for her eye, Esther. It turns out that it's not an eye infection, just a blocked tear duct which should go away soon. (I think Mom's going to post something about this soon, but you got the information early.)

Mrs. Monica,
Thank you for the wonderful analogy about the butterfly. We hadn't thought about that before! Thanks so much for offering to bring a meal Thursday evening. We are so thankful for all of our wonderful friends! Thanks for being a blessing in our lives!

Mr. Monaco,
It is so nice to hear from you! Your family has been such a blessing to us! Teaching Rochelle and AJ has been a wonderful experience; they are so great! We look forward to introducing Katelyn Grace to all of you ... especially to little Maggie!

Thank you all for giving us your encouragement and support! We thank the Lord for each of you.

In Christ,
Lauren
