The First Doctor's Visit Is Today

Hello everyone!

I'm sitting here at my desk with a precious little sleeping bundle in my lap. It amazes me how contented this child is!

Katelyn Grace has her first doctor's appointment at 11am today. The purpose of this appointment is to get her heart and liver and a few other things checked out. Apparently, it's very important to get this done right away with down syndrome babies.

We are just beginning to get an education on down syndrome, and I'm sure we'll learn a lot!

Right now, we're praying:

1. That she is on the "upper end" of things. She's nursing wonderfully! Apparently, this can be rare in down syndrome children because of muscle weakness. We know that she can see and hear, because she is focusing on faces and following sounds.

2. That the Lord would connect us with the right people and that only the best would be done for little Katelyn Grace. Mom and Dad need wisdom to make wise decisions about her medical care, doctors, and everything else we're going to deal with.

3. That Katelyn Grace would give us the opportunity to impact people for the Lord. We know that the Lord is going to introduce us to so many people we would never have met without Katelyn Grace!

Just Mom and Dad are taking her to the doctor's today. Mom was supposed to stay in her room for a week, but Mom and Dad feel that it is important for her to go to this first appointment. Besides, she is feeling much better and is doing wonderfully! She has been so amazing through all of this, and has been a great encouragement to all of us.

This doctor has been highly recommended to us by several different parents of down syndrome children. Please pray that the Lord would give him wisdom and guidance!

I think my little Katelyn Grace needs a diaper change before she visits the doctor, so I'll end this post right here.

Blessings to all of you who are praying for out sweet little baby!
Lauren
